Civil Legal Requirements:The following list is the legal requirements for marriage in Aruba. Couple must provide from their Country of Citizenship an "apostile" report proof that they are both single and eligible to marry.Letter of intent to the registrar of marriages in Aruba.(please download below on this page)Each person must submit their birth certificate with a raised seal.If either party has been divorced they must submit their divorce decree.If either party has been widowed, they must submit their death certficate.Couple must be holders of valid passports and submit with their application, copies of the pages showing all relevant details.Copies of the passport pages of their witnesses must also be submitted (if couple does not have any witnesses, we will provide them free of charge).All documents are to be faxed for review and then submitted by courier (i.e. FedEx) at least one (1) month prior to desired wedding date.All civil ceremonies must take place before the church wedding, either in the US or in Aruba. Civil ceremonies are conducted inside the City Hall (Bureau Burgerlijke Stand) in OranjestadCeremonies are performed Mondays through Fridays.Times are from 9:30 am - 12:00pm or 2:30 -3:30pm.Helpful Civil Ceremony Explanations1) In Aruba, ALL legal/civil weddings have to take place within the confines of the civil town house, (a beautifully restored historic building)2) The Civil Town House is open for weddings Monday through Friday from 10am through 11:30am and from 2.30 pm to 3:30pm3) A long form birth certificate is a birth certificate that shows the city and state the person was born in as well as full names of parents including mothers maiden name.4) An apostille is a one-page document that authenticates the long form birth certificate5) A negative statement of marriage is a document that proves that a person is single and eligible to be wed6) A Letter of intent will be forwarded to you once you confirm to us that you will be using our services for your legal wedding. Please make 2 hard copies. Bridefills one out with her information on the top and grooms information on the bottom and bride signs that one and groom fills one out with his information on the top and brides information on the bottom and groom signs it.7) Even if bride and/or groom have submitted divorce decree(s) and/or pertaining death certificate(s) they must also submit a negative statement of marriage which should be issued from the approximate date that the previous marriage was dissolved up to the date that the pertaining authorities have available.8) For U.S. Citizens: Long form birth certificates, apostilles and negative statement of marriage are obtained at the bureau of vital statistics located in thedepartment of health.9) In the U.K.: Apostilles for the Birth Certificates are obtained at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs10) In Canada: Apostilles for the Birth Certificates are obtained either at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or at the Cosulaat Generale in Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver.11) Proper attire is required at the civil town hall. No shorts, slippers, or cut-offs.Sun- or cocktail dress for the ladies. Slacks and a buttoned up shirt for the men.Full wedding attire is also a possibility.What's next? (this applies to the US citizen)First thing you need to do to change your name is go to your Social Security office with your original marriage license (the translated certificate you received from Aruba), i.d. (drivers license), and fill out a form for a new ss card (found here: http://www.ssa.gov/gethelp1.htm). After you get a new social security card - which may take a couple weeks in the mail if you go to the ss office in person then you need to go through the process of getting a new drivers license. Make sure you inform your work, bank, credit cards, doctors etc. of your new information. We wish you the Best on your new journey together......

Unity Sand Ceremony The unity sand ceremony is the symbol of unification, flowing sand becomes the unifying symbol. The receptacle used to capture the flowing sand then becomes a cherished keepsake and reminder of the couple's commitment. 2 colored sand can be used for this ceremony. You can personalize your sand ceremony even more by placing some sand from the beach in the bottom of your keepsake container.Rose Ceremony A rose ceremony or can add a touch of elegance, romance, and beauty to your ceremony. There are basically two kinds of rose ceremonies. In one, the mothers of the bride and groom are each given a rose. In the second, the bride and groom exchange roses with each other.Blessing StonesFor those couples who are looking for a unique addition to their wedding ceremony, the Blessing Stones is a great way to capture your guests' heartfelt love for you. Valerie was born and raised in Aruba, fluent in English, Dutch, Spanish and her native language Papiamento,

she has spent more than 20 years in the tourism and hotel industry, part of this working several years for the prestigious hotel chain "Hyatt Regency Aruba".

Some of the essential achievements attainted by Ms. Hodge was the covetted Hyatt "Train-The-Trainer", the Hyatt Universtity "Service Plus" Certification, as well as the recipient of the Distinguised Service Team award twice in 1996 & 1998.

In 1999 she also achieved the Lay Counselor Certification by Dr. S.J. Wallace Ph.D in the Bahamas.

After this Ms. Hodge decided to bring her knowledge & expertise to the Weddings & Events industry, as co-owner of a former successful wedding company on the island where she has planned hundreds of weddings from 2004-2008 and was an important key to it's tremendous success. Ms. Hodge took a break from the industry to pursue other passions, continuously upgrading her skills in the artistic department as a freelance photographer, Designer & Music. She has also traveled extensively especialy to many cities in USA and Canada, sometimes taking the opportunity to meet clients before they arrived on the island in the past.

Ms. Hodge has been chosen as our professional wedding consultant in Aruba becuase of her self confidence, dependablity, Quadrilingual (four languages), decisiveness, her eye for detail, witty sense of humor, expertise in the weddings & events industry, positive attitude & great communication skills.
